MISUSE OF POLICE ANTI KIDNAPPING UNIT BY MR ALEX MBATA TO INVADE NGWOMA OBUBE AND INTIMIDATE, REPRESS, IMPOSE VIOLENCE AND INCARCERATE INNOCENT CITIZENS OF NGWOMA OBUBE OVER EZESHIP TUSSLE
It is with a heart filled with deep pains and regrets that we deem it pertinent to call the attention of Your Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State,in your capacity as the Chief Security Officer of the State and indeed the father of all, over the unjustified repression and emasculation of Ngwoma Obube people by Mr Alex Mbata who has leveraged on his wealth and connections with the Nigerian Police Force to sustain a systematic and horrible reign of undue intimidation, harassment, repression and incarceration of our people.
Your Excellency may wish to know that since the Ezeship succession tussle induced by Alex Mbata started in Ngwoma sometimes last year,the once peaceful and united Community has been engrossed with communal crises and disturbances.These disturbances are avoidable given the fact that Ngwoma had for over a century entrenched a hereditary Ezeship succession under the Onukogu Royal family but Mr Alex Mbata deliberately resolved to truncate this established institutional arrangement and went ahead to throw up his kinsman,Chinedu Ekeocha from Amafor Village to parade himself as the Eze elect of Ngwoma Obube.The people of Ngwoma Obube in conjunction with Onukogu Royal family had earlier declared the crown Prince and first son of the immediate past traditional ruler, Prince Kemakolam Onukogu as the rightful Eze elect and successor to the royal stool.The two opposing forces are already in place and the matter is before Your Excellency for final decision.
Your Excellency, while the peace loving people of Ngwoma are waiting and relying on your sound judgement to end this unwarranted impasse imposed by Alex Mbata,it is disheartening and despicable that Mr Alex Mbata has continued to use the men of the Anti Kidnapping unit of the police force to arrest and terrorise our innocent indigenes because they disagree with his reign of injustice, manipulation and plot to truncate the hereditary Ezeship succession arrangement in a bid to impose his surrogate,Mr Chinedu Ekeocha.This style of intimidation has subsisted and attained it feverish climax on the 7th June 2026 when in a grotesque style, men of the Anti Kidnapping unit of the Imo State Police Command invaded Ngwoma Obube in the early hours of the day around 2am and in the company of Amafor Village youths who led them to break into various houses and arrested four indigenes of Ngwoma.The most painful and regrettable part of this illegal arrest was the use of maximum force through breaking of houses,shooting and wounding of these innocent citizens before bundling them to anti kidnapping base for detention as if they are armed robbers, bandits or kidnappers.
These young men namely; Uche Onwuana,Remigius Ahanonu,Ikedi Elibe and Emeka Nkwocha were manhandled, bundled and detained under very harsh and inhuman condition for no justification.Their offense was that they are against an attempt to impose a wrong person by Alex Mbata and as a result the people trouped out enmass to demonstrate peacefully to drive home the rejection of what Mbata is doing.The excesses of Mr Alex Mbata could be felt in all facets of the community life and the whole thing is narrowed to his sinister motive to emasculate,colonize and pocket Ngwoma Obube people by imposing an Eze on them.The last straw that broke the carmel’s back was latest abortive plot of imposing a President General,one imposter Power Akwazie, on 15 May 2026 even when the tenure of the incumbent President General,Mr Ephraim Anuforo expires on 26 December 2027.
Your Excellency these and more of other provocative illegal activities of Mbata and his handful of supporters have been denounced by the people in the most peaceful, traditional, cultural and legitimate ways to notify the outside world and unsuspecting public that what he promotes is abominable and atrocious.The people and elders of Umuobashi Village did the needful by demonstrating and calling on the gods of the land on 17 May 2026, to disallow this sacrilege and further pronounced ostracization of Power Akwazie who offered himself to cause this confusion.Also the people of Ngwoma Obube engaged in a peaceful demonstration to register their disapproval on May 28 May 2026 against Theodore Oparaocha who Alex Mbata has been using to carry out his plans. It is worrisome that Alex Mbata will continue to be allowed to misuse the police to repress and incarcerate our people.
At the moment,these innocent men are still languishing under inhuman condition in the Police anti kidnapping unit cell.They have refused to grant them bail and intensified their maltreatment. Another painful aspect of this inhumanity by Mr Alex Mbata who is using his money to opress his people is that doors were destroyed, homes were vandalised and women beaten, the elderly were manhandled and the aftermath is the imposition of violence,fear on the people.The fear of repression that currently envelopes our community has made people flee and scatter into the bushes and neighbouring communities to avoid being caught unaware
Your Excellency this medieval treatment being metted to our in a full blown democratic government in the 21st Century is worrisome and the people feel abandoned to get crudely dehumanized by a man whose wealth and unbridled quest for power has made uncontrollable and destructive even against his own people because they refused his gambit to impose a wrong person and surrogate as their traditional ruler.We call for your swift intervention to these innocent souls being dehumanized in the Police anti kidnapping cell.It is only you that can call Mr Alex Mbata to order and for him to stop causing problem in Ngwoma Obube Autonomous Community.
We have confidence in Your Excellency to address this imposition of violence and repression in Ngwoma Obube by Alex Mbata and his surrogates.
