Ask All Imo Political Gladiators To Sheath Swords
Two prominent Socio-Cultural Organizations in Owerri and Orlu Political Zones of Imo State namely, Orlu Political Consultative Assembly (OPOCA) and Owerri Zone Political Leaders Forum OZOPOLF, have endorsed Gov Hope Uzodinma’s second term bid.
After a one Day Summit held in Owerri residence of Chief Charles Amadi, (Charlvon), in a Communiqué jointly read by both Organizations, they unanimously agreed that Uzodinma has done well in his first term and therefore deserves a second term to complete the good works he has started.
In the communiqué jointly signed by Chief (Bar) Rex Anunobi, National President of OPOCA, and Prince Charles Amadi, the National President of OZOPOLF, are also the signatures of Hon Esom Obodo, National Secretary of OPOCA and Nze Ray Emeana, Acting National Secretary of OZOPOLF respectively.
The Group stated that for the peace, unity and progress of Imo State, the Charter of Equity which has been signed by the three political zones on how to rotate Imo Governorship Seat should start with Uzodinma (Orlu) in 2023,while in 2027 Okigwe and Owerri Zones will jostle for the position.
“We strongly restate the need for unity in Imo State and insist that no efforts should be spared to minimize rancor and divisiveness. To this end, all political Gladiators in Imo State are enjoined to sheath their swords and cooperate with our Governor, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma CON, to bring about the Imo of our collective dreams” the Communiqué read in part.
They maintained that removing a functioning administration like that of Uzodinma which has shown capacity in all the sectors in the State will only stunt Imo development, which is not advisable.
“The overall and sustainable development in the entire Imo State is a goal that must be accomplished, and to achieve that , all Imo sons and daughters must join hands to ensure that we achieve the result” they agreed.
The Summit pointed at the Dredging of Oguta, Orashi River as one of those projects by Uzodinma that is a master stroke that will open the entire Southeast to the world, and boost the Region’s Economy beyond the expectation of all in Nigeria.
They also spoke about the Owerri-Orlu, Owerri-Okigwe and Owerri-Umuahia roads as strong legacies and performance that makes Uzodinma deserve another term in office.
OPOCA and OZOPOLF thanked Imo Elders Council “who in the spirit of Imo Charter of Equity have conceded the Governorship to Orlu Zone in 2023”.
They therefore appealed to all the Zones of Imo State to abide by the Charter of Equity for Imo State to always have peaceful handover until it goes around the three Political Zones; Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe.
