Guard’s death: police detain, confiscate 3 dogs
The Lagos State Police Command has detained a dog owner, Salisu Mustapha, after dogs allegedly belonging to him mauled a security guard to death.
Residents initially raised the alarm on social media, drawing the police’s attention to the tragic incident. Reports indicate that the dogs had escaped due to inadequate confinement and subsequently attacked the security guard.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the owner’s detention via a post on the Command’s verified X handle, @benHundeyin, on Wednesday. Hundeyin stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday at Pinnock Estate, Ilasan, Lekki.
“The police have apprehended the owner of the dogs following the unfortunate mauling of a security guard to death by three dogs at Pinnock Estate, Ilasan, Lekki, on Nov. 5,” Hundeyin said. He added that the dogs have been confiscated pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, assured the public that the case would be thoroughly investigated, promising that justice will be served. “CP Ishola assures residents of the estate and the entire state that investigations will be brought to a conclusive end and justice will be served appropriately,” Hundeyin added.
