Gov Uzodimma Approves Funding For Completion Of School Projects In Oil-producing Communities

In a significant move to boost educational infrastructure in oil-producing communities, the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, GSSR, has approved the release of funds and contract variations to enable contractors return to project sites.

This announcement was made by the Managing Director of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Chief Austin Onyedebelu, during a meeting with government-approved contractors involved in the construction of primary schools across the region.

Chief Onyedebelu confirmed that the Governor had authorized both the initial contract funds and the agreed variations necessary to continue and complete the projects. He praised the Governor for his unwavering commitment to the development in the oil-producing areas.

During the meeting, contractors expressed appreciation for the government’s support but also highlighted challenges affecting project timelines, including vandalism, insecurity, and youth restiveness. One of the contractors noted that the contractors can make do with the variation amount plus their outstanding from the original contract sum to finish the projects on schedule.

In their vote of thanks, the contractors lauded Governor Uzodimma for his efforts in restoring peace to the affected areas and commended the ISOPADEC MD for his proactive leadership in ensuring the seamless execution of development projects.
