
Hon. Chike Okafor Concludes Two-Day Periodic Vocational Training and Empowerment of 1,000 Youths and Women on Domestic Fish Farming in Okigwe South

The member representing Ehime Mbano, Ihitte Uboma, and Obowo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, PhD has concluded a two day training of over 1,000 constituents across his constituency.

The training which held from 22nd to 23rd December, 2025, at Okenalogho Technical Secondary School, Obowo, was in partnership with Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu Ebonyi State, to ensure that the best and expert hands, in the field were on hand to educate the people.

Among the trainers, the specialist and speaker, Mr. Samuel Ogenyi, methodically guided the trainees on the theoretical and practical aquaculture process.

He harped on the best practices of fisheries, including testing the PH value of water, and feeding techniques to ensure healthy and high yield fishes.

The training afforded the participants the opportunity to ask relevant questions and get due answers and guidance on how to handle issues on the fish farm.
Speaking on the final day of the training, Hon. Chike Okafor assured the trainees that the specialists will be on hand, to routinely inspects their fish farms to ensure that knowledge inculcated during the capacity building session, is fully implemented to benefit of the Federal Constituency, the State and the country at large.
Hon. Chike Okafor, who was ably represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Hon. Okonkwo Vitus Onyinyechi ensures the distribution of training manual, containing the entire lectures and also encourage the trainees to form clusters, so as to attract funding and loans, from relevant agencies, which he will ensure, in his capacity as Chairman Committee on Nutrition and National Food Security, in the Federal House of Representatives.

The final day event was chaired by the Chairman Obowo council of Traditional rulers, His Royal Highness, Eze Ngozi Uwalaka, in company of other notable leaders.
