
FUTO SSANU Lauds VC Over Swift Implementation of CONTTA
The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), has commenced the implementation of the new Federal Government/Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) Collective Agreement (CONTTA), underscoring the University’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its workforce under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ikechukwu N. S. Dozie.
The development marks another significant milestone in the University’s efforts to promote staff wellbeing, strengthen industrial harmony, and foster an enabling environment for teaching, research, innovation, and administrative excellence.
In a message to members of the union, the Chairman of SSANU, FUTO Branch, Comrade Dr. Franklin Uche Duru, congratulated staff on the successful implementation of the new salary structure by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. INS Dozie, describing it as a welcome achievement for the branch and the University community.
He commended the collaborative efforts of the Federal Government, the national leadership of SSANU, and the University Management in ensuring that the agreement took effect in FUTO.
Dr. Duru disclosed that the National Leadership of SSANU is currently engaging the Federal Government to secure the release of funds for the payment of the outstanding six months’ arrears associated with the agreement. He expressed confidence that the arrears would be released in due course, enabling members to enjoy the full benefits of the implementation.
Members of the University community have welcomed the development with enthusiasm, describing it as a morale booster that will enhance productivity and reinforce confidence in the University’s shared vision of excellence.
