Open Letter To The Executive Governor Of Imo State From Ngwoma Obube Village Leaders On The Desperate And Brazen Connivance Of Mr Alex Mbata And The Executive Chairman Of Owerri North LGA, Mr Lucky Abaronye To Impose His Surrogate, Mr Power Akwazie As President General Of Ngwoma Obube Autonomous Community Even When The Tenure Of The Incumbent President General, Ephraim Anuforo Has Not Elapsed
We the undersigned Heads of the five out of the six Villages in Ngwoma Obube Autonomous Community, on behalf of our good people convey very warm and heartfelt greetings to Your Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State and with every sense of purpose strongly believe that our letter meets you well as Your Excellency brilliantly navigate the affairs of Imo State to greater heights.
Your Excellency, it is a heart filled with pain and regrets that we write this open letter to inform you of the brazen and desperate connivance of Mr Alex Mbata and the Executive Chairman of Owerri North Local Government Council, Mr Lucky Abaronye to impose one surrogate of Alex Mbata, Mr Power Akwazie as the President General of Ngwoma Obube Autonomous Community without recourse to our wishes and the glaring fact that the tenure of the incumbent President General, Mr Ephraim Anuforo has not elapsed.
Your Excellency may wish to know that this obnoxious and atrocious anti people manipulation has been the agenda of Mr Alex Mbata since the passage of our immediate past traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Eze Dr Onukogu, because of Mr Mbata’s sinister motive to truncate the hereditary Ezeship succession rights of the Onukogu Royal family. He has since 2025 deployed all manner of illegalities while parading his imposter President General alongside his preferred Eze Elect Mr Chinedu Ekeocha to the chargin of Ngwoma Obube people.
It is important to draw the attention of Your Excellency, to the recent brazen display of absurdity at Ngwoma Obube, precisely on May 15th 2026 where the desperate connivance of Mr Mbata and the Owerri North Local Government Council Chairman, Mr Lucky Abaronye reached its climax with a kangaroo setting to impose Mr Power Akwazie as the President General.On that fateful day, the uninvited agents of the Council Chairman came and announced their mission to conduct an election for a new President General which the people rejected and insisted that they neither called for any PG election nor informed by anybody of any impending election prior to their uninvited visit and intrusion. Given the insistence of the people, the election could not hold because there was no basis for it but to our dismay and surprise, the Executive Chairman of Owerri North went ahead and inaugurated Mr Akwazie as the President General without being elected by us.To us, this is provocative and the height of impunity and disregard to our position that the tenure of our authentic President General has not elapsed.
It is on the strength of this illegality and infringement on our fundamental rights as a people that we make bold to reiterate our rejection of this imposition by Alex Mbata and his partner in this conspiracy, Mr Lucky Abaronye and hereby wash our hands off of any unpleasant consequences that might erupt out of this illegality as our youth and entire members of the Community have been pushed to the wall and therefore poised to resist this injustice and aberration by Mbata and Owerri North Local Government Chairman. We plead with your Excellency to intervene in this matter for justice and peace to reign as we are very confident that Your Excellency will do something before it is too late.
