Uneze donates Power Generating set to Girls’ Secondary School, Ikenegbu

The Younger brother to Dr. Eberechukwu Fortunate Uneze, Executive Director of AMCON, Comrade Chiduziem Uneze has donated a Power Generating set to Girls’ Secondary School, Ikenegbu, Owerri.

Speaking on the occasion, Comrade Uneze expressed delight in being called upon to complement the effort of the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, in the education sector by providing a Generator to power the fully equipped and functional ICT Centre provided by the state Government.

Comrade Chiduziem Uneze told a gathering of the school authorities and students that his attention was drawn to this need by the S.A. to the Governor on ICT, Mr. Ik Ogbonna, who informed him that the only thing that stood between the students and practical knowledge of ICT was regular power supply, and when he received the called last week, he made up his mind not just to provide the generator but to look out for other needs of the school that he could meet.

Receiving the donation on behalf of Imo State Government, the Government Liaison Officer and State Development Committee for Ikenegbu ward 2, Hon. Uche Onwuchekwa who is also the Chief Press Secretary to the state Deputy Governor, thanked comrade Uneze for his kind gesture which is worthy emulation. He stated that Government alone cannot do everything, but with public spirited individuals like comrade Uneze, a lot can be achieved. He then proceeded to officially hand over the generating set to the school principals, and it was put to use immediately.

Mr. Ik Ogbonna appreciated the donor for his magnanimity and also expressed gratitude to the Governor for providing a conducive atmosphere for a Free, compulsory and qualitative education in Imo State.

Responding, the principals of the school Mrs. Ogechi Owums Owuamanam (principal 1) and Mrs. Victoria Osuagwu (Principal 2) thanked Mr. Ik Ogbonna for facilitating this Rescue Mission and also Comrade Uneze for his quick response and unusual benevolence. According to the principal, Comrade has no child in the school and is not even an indigene of the area, since he hails from Amakohia Ubi in Owerri West, which makes the donation even more philanthropic.

The senior prefect of the school, Miss. Thelma Nwodo offered prayers of appreciation for Comrade for being the answer to their prayers for power supply to the ICT Centre which will now enable them uninterrupted learning of ICT to empower them for the future.

Also present at the handover ceremony of the generator was the former commissioner for Internally Generated Revenue and Pension Matters, Hon. Ifeanyi Araraume Jnr who donated a carton of White board marker, in support.
