…Because Willie Obiano’s primary election is defective.
The events leading to the Anambra 2017 Governorship election is getting interesting by the day. While other political parties are neck deep in campaigns and far reaching consultations, it appears that the preoccupation of Gov. Willie Obiano is to play the spoilers game rather than face the legal realities before him.
It is common knowledge that following the victory of the Martins Agbaso led APGA at the appellate court, Victor Oye and his co-travellers would rather obtain all manner of injunctions from courts all over the country than reach out to Martins Agbaso and sue for peace.
It is on record that Martin Agbaso had obtained an order of mandamus, from a Federal high court which directed INEC and other law enforcement agencies to cooperate with him. This ORDER was not vacated as at Tuesday 15th August, 2017, when Victor Oye purportedly organize the primary that produced Obiano.
It was on Wednesday the 16th day of August that the Appeal court vacated the order of mandamus, while there was an appeal pending at the Supreme court, however, on Friday the 18th of August, the Apex court gave a stay of execution over the judgement of the appeal court, to the effect that status quo ante remains.
On Monday, the 21st of August, Martin Agbaso eventually organised a primary election that produced Dr Hygers Igwebuike. An election that was duly monitored by INEC and relevant security agencies.
APGA home and abroad now can see why they should support and rally round Dr Hygers. His emergence is from God to retain APGA, if Willie wins with his defective primary election, another political party will sue him and challenge his eligibility in the court, that will mean the end of APGA in Nigeria.
