Gov. Hope Uzodimma Hosts Pope Francis in Owerri

The Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, on Thursday 23rd June, 2022, hosted the leader of the Catholic faith, Pope Francis, after the installation of the new Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, His Grace, Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma and his dear wife, Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma, hosted to dinner, Pope Francis, ably represented by the Papal, Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, His Grace Most Rev. Antonio Guido Filipazzi, in the company of eminent Bishops of Nigeria.

The occasion had the presence of the Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja; His Eminence Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the Archbishop of Abuja; His Grace Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, the Bishop of Sokoto; Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Bishop of Minna; Most Rev. Martin Igwe Uzoukwu, the Auxiliary Bishop of Abuja; Most Rev. Anselm Umoren and other eminent religious leaders.

During the event, Gov. Hope Uzodimma prayed for better days for the State, thus, “Prophetically speaking, having witnessed this apostolic convergence on our land, may the divine impartation remain progressive on our developmental strides for economic transformation to the benefit of Ndi Imo.”
