National Food Security: Hon. Chike Okafor Trains and Empowers Farmers in Okigwe South With High Yield Seedlings
Flags off Training of Farmers and Distribution of Selected High Yield Cassava Stem and high breed Palm Seedlings to Farmers in Ehime-Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo LGA.
In line with his annual Agro-Allied programme, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor PhD, has commenced training of Farmers and distribution of selected high yield cassava stems and high breed Palm seedlings to farmers in Ehime-Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Local Government Areas, in Imo State.
This programme, the second of it’s kind, since he assumed office as Chairman House of Reps Committee of Nutrition and National Food Security, is anchored in partnership with Agencies of the Federal Government.
It will be recalled that asides his annual Free Medical Outreach, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor embarks on annual skills acquisition programme, of which the previous years have seen to the training of women and youths in Paint Production, wall Screeding, and lots more.
This year’s programme has hundreds of participants drawn from the 31 wards of Ehime-Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency and witnessed by supervising agencies of the Federal Government, traditional rulers and community leaders.
The training which runs from 8th to 10th of November, was declared open by the host Local Government Chairman, Hon. Barr. Obioma Ehirim, of Obowo LGA, alongside his deputy and numerous councillors.
After the training on Agricultural best practices, by time tested Agro experts and consultants, participants will go home with high yield, Vitamin A enriched Cassava stems, Palm seedlings, Banana suckers and plantain suckers, among others.
The trainees express fulfilment in the training exercise, and the hope of rich harvest and food security via the high yield seedlings, and thanked Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor for his unusual kind of representation, praying God for his continued sustenance and growth.
