The Federal House of Representatives Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, chaired by Hon. Chike John Okafor Ph.D, has been recognized as one of the top 10 performing committees in the green chamber.

This prestigious honor comes as part of the First Session Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Report for the 10th House, highlighting the committee’s exceptional legislative output and productivity.

The announcement was made in a formal notification signed by Hon. Obinna Aguocha, Chairman of the House Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation of All Standing and Ad-Hoc Committees on Thursday, 5th December 2024.

The recognition is based on the committee’s outstanding performance in legislative productivity, evaluated through the Productivity Index Matrices, which assess efficiency and effectiveness in fulfilling jurisdictional mandates.

Inaugurated on February 29, 2024, the Nutrition and Food Security Committee has demonstrated remarkable commitment to advancing national development through its legislative duties.

Hon. Okafor and his team have been lauded for their dedication to good governance and their significant contributions to addressing issues of nutrition and food security in the country.

The official presentation of the M&E Report and the award ceremony for the recognized committees will take place on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Conference Hall, National Assembly Library and Resource Centre, Abuja.

The event is expected to also draw notable dignitaries, lawmakers, and other stakeholders in the legislative process.

Speaking on the recognition, Hon. Obinna Aguocha expressed confidence in the committee’s continued excellence, urging them to maintain their exemplary performance in subsequent sessions.

The award highlights the committee’s pivotal role in shaping policies and frameworks that promote sustainable food systems and improved nutrition across the nation.

This recognition not only reinforces the importance of legislative accountability but also serves as a motivation for other committees to strive for excellence in delivering on their mandates.
