
The Presidential primaries for the All Progressives Congress (APC), which took place on Saturday 23rd May 2026, across the 36 States of the country, and the FCT has been concluded.

Imo State, the Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma was collation officer for the State, while, in his Local Government Area, Oru-East, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, PhD, member representing Ehime Mbano, Ihitte Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was collation officer, covering the 10 wards in the LGA, namely Akuma, Akatta, Amagu, Amiri I, Amiri II, Awo-Omamma I, Awo-Omamma II, Awo-Omamma III, Awo-Omamma IV, and Omuma ward where the Governor comes from.

Among leaders who were on hand to receive the Governor, in his Omuma ward were the State party Chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, the Commissioner for Rural Development Chief Ifeanyi Oruh, the member representing Oru-East State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon. Chiagozie Nwanneri, the APC candidate for Oru East State Constituency, Hon. Uche Obiozor, the LGA party chairman Chief Odih, other former LGA party chairmen, Hon. Sir Alban Amasiatu and Chief Bernard Nwanana, Chief Romanus Egbuladike Nzewuba (Sir White) among others.

The collation officer, Hon. Chike Okafor worked harmoniously with these leaders to ensure a hitch free election at the Local Government level, before collation moved to the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre (EIICC), Owerri, where the Governor, as the State collation officer, announced the final result and declared President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the winner of the Primaries, conducted in Imo State, with over 500,000 votes from APC members.
