
Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor Pays WAEC Registration Fees for Students in Okenalogho Secondary Technical School, and Others in Obowo LGA

On 20th February 2025, in a very quiet ceremony, witnessed by the Chairman of Obowo Local Government Area, the member representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, PhD, paid the registration fees for Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), of all the students in Okenalogho Secondary Technical School, and others across Obowo Local Government Area.
The event, which was the 13th edition of the programme, since it began in 2012, before Hon. Okafor got into elective office, was chaired by Executive Chairman of Obowo Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Obioma Ehirim, ably represented by the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Onyegbule, in company of the councillors.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of the LGA showered encomiums on Hon. Okafor for his enviable achievements, as a representative of the people, including the construction of the WAEC hall, where the event took place. He urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity and study hard to excel in their academics, so that they can, in turn, assist others, and by so doing contribute to the development of Obowo, Imo State and Nigeria.
The Special Assistant on Education to Hon. Chike Okafor, Nneoma Mrs Tessy Ezekwem announced that the total number of candidates benefiting from the Free WAEC registration in Obowo alone, is 133, and that doesn’t include students in Ihitte-Uboma and Ehime-Mbano where a similar ceremony was going on.
The Principal, Mrs Igwe, thanked Hon. Chike Okafor for his continued support to the school and overall love for education and prayed for God’s constant provision and elevation for him.
Hon. Charles Uwadoka also lent a voice, to thank Hon. Okafor for this landmark programme and urged the students to not take it for granted.
The students could not hide their joy, as they, in turns expressed their appreciation to Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, and offered their prayers.
The high point of the occasion was the goodwill message from a young teacher, in the school, Miss Miracle, who was a beneficiary of the free WAEC registration, some years, and currently posted to the same school, for her Teaching Practice, as she currently rounding up her degree programme at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education Owerri.
