Hon. Chike Okafor Visits, Congratulates Hon. Jonas Okeke As Candidate of APC for Okigwe South.
History was made, on Sunday 17th May 2026, as Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, the member representing Ehime Mbano, Ihitte Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives visited Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke in his home to Congratulate him on emerging the candidate of the party for the Okigwe South Reps seat.
The visit, which is unusual in these, where politics is played with acrimony is the height of the display of politics without bitterness, by the incumbent, Hon. Chike Okafor.
On arrival, with his team of supporters and party structure, Hon. Chike Okafor was well received by Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke, who confirmed that Hon. Chike Okafor was the first to call him, on Saturday 16th of May, the penultimate day, and they spoke before and after the primaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon. Chike Okafor stated that as a loyal party man, having seen the direction the party leadership in Okigwe zone and in the State was leaning towards, he quickly aligned with their position and put a call across to Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke, with whom he has enjoined a very good relationship dating back to his days as a Banker, when he was an account officer to the then Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke
Hon. Chike Okafor stated, in clear terms, that he will commit bother human and material resources, to ensure the victory of Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke at the polls, come January 2027.
Hon. Chike Okafor further stated that his personal aspiration not withstanding, he abides by the decision of the party, in Imo State, ably led by the infrastructure Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma and assured that his team will be on ground to ensure a hitch free election victory not just for Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke the Reps candidate, but also for the Senatorial candidate of Okigwe zone as well as the Presidential candidate, His Excellency, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Responding, Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke appreciated the visited reiterating his relationship with Hon. Chike Okafor, and insisted that he, the candidate ought to have visited Hon. Chike Okafor as his Reps member, but Hon. Chike Okafor had shown him respect as a younger brother by coming to him, and he will not take it for granted.
Hon. Chike Okafor was accompanied on the visit with the Obowo Local Government political structure, including the LGA party Exco led by the Party Chairman, the Councillors led by the Local Government Vice Chairman, the 10 ward Chairmen of APC in Obowo, the 10 ward coordinators of Renewed HOPE Ambassadors, a former Okigwe zonal chairman of APC and former commissioner for Youths and Talent hunt, Hon. Ifeanyi Onwueyiagba, another former Okigwe Zonal APC chairman and for Transition Committee Chairman of Obowo Local Government Area, Prince Chidi Nwoke, among others.
