Dawn Of A New Era In FUTO As Prof. INS Dozie Receives The Mantle Of Leadership From Prof. Nnenna Oti As Vice Chancellor

“Prof. Ikechukwu Nosike Simplicius Dozie, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, formally assumed office as the 9th substantive Vice Chancellor of Federal University Of Technology Owerri (FUTO).

The handover ceremony which took place at the University Council Chambers, signaled an official end of the 5-year tenured administration of the University’s 8th Vice Chancellor, Prof Nnenna N. Otti and as well, marked the official beginning of Professor Ikechukwu N. S. Dozie’s new tenure as the 9th substantive Vice Chancellor.

The ceremony, which took place at the University’s Council Chambers, was greeted with unprecedented ovation, that welcomed the new Vice Chancellor.

The newly inducted Vice Chancellor, Prof. I. N. S. Dozie, affirming his commitment to service, and also in a Media chart, expressed profound gratitude to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu GCFR, the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the University’s 13th Governing Council, chaired by Sen. Jack Tilley-Gyado, OFR, CON, the FUTO Community and the general public for the opportunity to serve the University as its 9th substantive Vice Chancellor, requesting all stakeholders to join hands with him in the service of building a stronger University with sustainable goals.

Prof. Ikechukwu Nosike Simplicius Dozie, is the immediate past pioneer Vice Chancellor of Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU), Ideato Imo State, where he is credited with monumental transformations and breathtaking achievements that enhanced the University status and her products to appreciable global acceptance.

Prof. Dozie’s tenure as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of KOMU ended on May 18, 2026.

Leveraging on his past leadership and administrative competencies, many stakeholders in the Tertiary Education sector, expressed confidence in Professor Dozie’s abilities to propel new grounds, build new dreams and tread new paths towards achieving remarkable feats while deploying his wealth of experience in repositioning and leading the University to greater heights.

Ikechukwu Dozie, is a Professor of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology; a Public.Health Specialist who believes, it takes leadership with the necessary competencies to redefine the pathway of an institution to greatness”
