Arthur Egwim roars: Ideato North must have light in my time

… As his motion causes House to visit EEDC

Following a motion of urgent importance moved by the member representing Ideato North State constituency, Barr. Innocent Arthur Egwim, on the floor of Imo State House of Assembly, during the plenary session of 13th June, 2017, urging the House of Assembly to use every available legislative tool to compel Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to restore light to Ideato North Local Government Area and Ideato South Local Government Area, as well as other parts of Imo that has been in darkness for years; the House paid a working visit to the Orlu District Office of EEDC on Monday 19th June, 2017,  on a fact finding mission.

The visit led by the Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly and the highest political office holder in Orlu zone, after the Governor, at the state level, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo.

The interaction with the district manager, Engr. Mike Ugwu and his management team revealed a lot of sore areas which will now shape the next of the struggle by the Hon. Member and his colleagues.

Addressing newsmen after the interactive session, Hon. Barr. Innocent Arthur Egwim popularly known by his title, Akuabata, showed visible anger at the manner things were being handled by EEDC officials in Orlu office. He wanted to know why Uga and Aguata their nearest Anambra neighbours had regular power supply from the same EEDC while Ideato North LGA remained in darkness.

He decried the attitude of EEDC as a company that is all out to make profit without investment, thereby ripping off the people who are compelled to pay estimated bills while living in darkness.

He insisted that Six years is a long time for Ideato North to left in darkness and that EEDC must take urgent steps to reverse the situation in the overall interest of public service.
