…As Governing council unveils Dr. Blessing Ijioma’s replacement
The leadership crisis that has been raging at Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education may have come to an end, as the Governing council of the institution, after a protracted meeting, yesterday, Thursday, 7th September, 2017, appointed a new helmsman for the college.
He is Dr. Dan C. Anyanwu from Owerri West LGA, is of the Department Agriculture in the institution. Dr. Anyanwu, who until this appointment was the Deputy Provost of the college, is taking over in acting capacity, to enable the council officially kick start the process for appointment a substantive provost, in line with the directive of the Education Minister, in his letter dated 11th August, 2017.
Dr. Blessing Ijioma has till 15th September, 2017 to handover to the acting provost.
A release signed by the college Registrar who is also the secretary to the Governing council, Mrs. A.N. Aguta states in part “Council therefore appointed you (Dr. DC Anyanwu) the Acting Provost of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, with effect from September 16th, 2017”.
The appointment of the new Provost is line with the directive of the Education Minister.
