OIL THEFT: GOVERNOR UZODIMMA REITERATES ZERO TOLERANCE FOR CRIME & CRIMINALITY AS HE COMMENDS SECURITY AGENCIES FOR APPREHENDING OIL THIEVES
Today, the security agencies recorded a milestone in their fight against illegal bunkering of crude oil which had in recent times escalated along the coast of Imo State.
By the application of intelligence gathered, the Security Agencies on covert operations against illegal bunkering of crude products where able to burst the illegal refinery and depot where the criminals confessed to the crime. The security agencies were able to neutralize their antics and withstood against the corruptible practice of watering down the professional conducts of the agencies.
His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma upon inspection decried the act of sabotage on the national economy and by effect, the state revenue due to the cut down in production occasioned by the illegal bunkering. His Excellency complemented the security agencies for working in unison to this milestone.
Recall that penultimate week, His Excellency had accompanied the Chief of Policy and Plans, Nigerian Navy to inspect the site for the Nigeria Navy Base, Oguta Imo State. At that outing, His Excellency commended the Nigeria Navy for the decision to go on with the Imo State Command. The Governor noted with bitterness the increased illegal bunkering along the coasts of Imo State and hoped that the establishment of the Navy Base would aid in curbing the crime.
This record breaking achievement complements the Government’s efforts in arresting the ugly situation that has for a long while decomposed our national and state economy.
The 3R Government’s agenda in building an Imo State that offers economic viability would not be achieved with crimes and criminality here and there. Having scored high on this, the oil market investors that had nurtured fear along these lines are hereby reassured of government’s commitment towards ensuring a sanitized environment conducive for business to thrive.
