Engr. Dr. Michael Arimanwa Launches Awa Bike at Federal Polytechnic Nekede

…Says Scheme A Transport Cum Sporting Project

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa (FNSE), on Friday, 13th August, 2021, within the academic community, launched a new transport cum exercise project christened, Awa Bike, initiated by Prince Amobi.

This is a system whereby the bicycles are operated in a pay-as-you-go system. An initial 100 smart bicycles capable of communication are available in the first instance for the project. An interested subscriber is required to download the App to register and then recharge before being able to ride the bicycle.

With 100 pieces for the initial take off, the scheme provides flexibility and opportunities for exercise for subscribers and reduced risk of accidents though it is not an alternative to motorcycle (popularly called Okada). The opportunity of using the scheme as an exercise kit has attendant health benefits for both staff and
students.

This is another plus to the leadership acumen of Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa, who have left no one in doubt, about his desire to make a lasting difference in and around the academic community.
