Supporters of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the spiritual director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria, on Sunday morning stormed the Adoration Ministry Enugu, protesting the closure of their worship ground.
The protesters numbering over a thousand were seen carrying leaves and placards, as they sing and chant solidarity songs within the premises.
Some of protesters are seen chanting “No More Onaga” as they express their displeasure with the closing down of the church.
Our Reporter who was at the scene couldn’t make a video of the protest as some persons suspected to be workers of the church were seen stopping people from video or taking pictures of the happenings.
This is coming after the Bishop of the Enugu Diocese, Bishop Callistus Onaga had ordered catholic priests and faithfuls not to worship at the Adoration Ministry.
The Bishop’s order was following the unguided utterances of the priest in charge of the ministry, Fr. Ejike Mbaka, on certain individuals and political affairs in the country.
“In the light of the happenings in the Catholic Adoration Ministry Chaplaincy Enugu; capable of undermining the Catholic faith and teachings; and after several fraternal corrections and admonitions to Fr. Camillus Ejike Mbaka, the Chaplain of the Ministry: and after having given him pastoral directives and guidelines for the Ministry Chaplaincy, which he persistently violated: and in fulfilment of my pastoral duties as the Chief Shepherd with the obligation to promote and safeguard the Catholic faith and morals in Enugu Diocese, I hereby prohibit all Catholics (clergy, religious and lay faithful) henceforth front attending all religious and liturgical activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry until the due canonical process initiated by the Diocese is concluded,” the Bishop said in a letter.
Reacting to the letter, the Adoration Ministry in a message to all it members said, “There will be no program starting from tomorrow being 19th June 2022 at Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria Amen, Umuchigbo Emene, Enugu State”.
“Sunday Mass, Wednesday (E No Dey) And Night Programs will not hold till Further Notice”.
