Eko 2022: IMSU Alumni Holds National Convention in Lagos … It’s An Avenue For Professional Networking – National President, Barr. Okey Ozumba

From 26th through 28th August, 2022, The National Executive Council of Imo State University Alumni Association (IMSUAA), ably led by Chief Barr. Okey Ozumba (Nzeakonobi) and Incorporated Trustees led by Barr. Chinwe Mbakwem led the entire IMSU Alumni through their 5th Annual National Convention, tagged Eko 2022.

The theme of the Convention which is on “Symmetry And Diversity: Participate In The Building of The Nigeria of Our Dream” also formed the basis for the keynote speech delivered by Dr. Jayne Obioma Onwumere co-founder of PWAN Homes, the fastest growing Real Estate Company in Nigeria, today.

The event which is annual gathering of graduates of Imo State University, Owerri, known as “Imo Stars” saw members from the various chapters of the Alumni, including Abuja, Imo, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Bayelsa, Abia etc, converge at Ibis International Hotel, Murtala Mohammed Airport Road, Ajao, Lagos.

The convention started on Friday 26th August, with a Poolside meet and greet, to welcome all members, upon arrival.

On Saturday 27th August, the program continued with Aerobics cum physical fitness session and sporting competition, which was hampered by early morning rain, in the city.

After breakfast, it was time for lectures, at the conference hall of Ibis Hotel.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Jayne Obioma Onwumere co-founder of PWAN Homes, and others like Sir Emeka Obasi, (Head, SME, FCMB), Ugochukwu Omeogu (Millions) International Motivational Speaker, Dr. Linus Okorie of Abuja Leadership centre, Lagos State commissioner of police CP Alabi, ably represented, DCP Bassey Ewah Samuel, DCP in charge of Administration, Lagos Police Command and ACP O.O. Odubona, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Power, Hon Ebitei R. Tonyon, Dr. Oby Ozigbo, etc

The lectures preceded the lunch break, and then the Awards and recognition to notable leaders in the society, entrepreneurs, captains of industries as well as Stars from various chapters who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour.

The evening section was the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Alumni, as an incorporation of legal standing. The AGM was declared open by the BOT chairman, Barr. Chinwe Mbakwem flanked by the BOT Secretary, Barr. Clovis Okereke, including High Chief Enyioha Chris Anyanwu, His Worship Ebitare Timi Esq, Arc. Okwukwe Onuzo, Pastor John Maduka and others.

The AGM was Presided over by the National President Barr. Okey Ozumba flanked by the National Secretary, Mr. Samuel Nwokeji, the Assistant National Secretary, Francis Udoka Ndimkoha, the Fin Sec, Mr. Anslem Achunine , the Assistant Financial Secretary, Mrs Dorcas Fineface Erio, the Treasurer, Lady Nkechi Eberendu, the Immediate Past National President Mr. Anozie Ekwerike among others.

Briefing newsmen after the occasion, the National President, Barr. Okey Ozumba expressed delight at the success of the program which he pointed out is a strong tool for progressive and professional networking among Imo State University graduates, worldwide. He stated that the essence of the worldview is made perfect by the fact that IMSU Alumni now has fully registered chapters in Europe and North America and will stamp feet in other continents soon.
