The Minister of State for Education, Rt Hon Goodluck Nanah Opiah has received enormous praises for the second campus granted the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, Imo State at Abaezi, Egbema, in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State.
A release signed by Kelechi Mejuobi, Special Assistant, Media and Public Affairs to the Hon Minister of State for Education, says the Federal Government, some weeks ago graciously made available the Skills Acquisition Centre premises in Abaezi, Egbema, the homestead of Rt Hon Opiah, built by the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta, a second campus of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.
In appreciation of the efforts of the Minister of State for Education in the realization of this giant stride, the management of the institution led by the Rector, Engr Dr Micheal C.Arimanwa expressed happiness on the efforts of the Minister of States for Education for giving Poly Nekede a second campus after more than three decades of existence.
The institution in a letter of the appreciation to the Minister signed by Engr Dr Arimanwa during the thank you visit to his office at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja, disclosed that the priceless assistance Rt Hon Opiah rendered cannot be overlooked in the acquisition of the second campus.
The letter reads “the Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede profoundly appreciate the Honourable Minister of Education (State) Rt Hon Goodluck Nanah Opiah for the invaluable assistance rendered to us in the acquisition of the second campus at Abaezi, Egbema In Imo State
“The news of the approval of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari to bequeath an already built-up campus to our institution was received with a lot of joy and fanfare”
The Fed Poly Nekede team on the visit showcased joy over the efforts of Rt Hon Opiah who was instrumental to the acquisition of the second campus at Abezi, Egbema.
It would be recalled that Rt Hon Opiah during his tenure as Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly In 2007-2011 ensured that the Imo State State Government converted the Micheal Okpara College Of Agriculture, Umuagwo Ohaji, a monotechnic in his constituency, to Imo State Polytechnic, before recent upgrading to University of Agriculture and Environment Sciences.
