The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has pledged to follow up the process of the constitution of the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and see to it’s completion, on or before the end of June, 2021.
This is coming hours to the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum issued by the Niger Delta warlord, Tompolo, last Sunday.
The ultimatum had demanded the immediate constitution of a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), otherwise, activities in the region will be disrupted.
The reconstitution of the board had been stalled by the institution of Forensic Audit in NDDC, by President Buhari.
This pledge by the minister has been accepted by the traditional rulers and stakeholders who met with the Minister, on Friday, 4th June, 2021, in Delta State.
