APC Reacts to Diverse Narratives on Reps Primaries Involving Cubana Chief Priest and that Involving Princess Miriam Onuoha

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT WITH RESPECT TO DR PASCAL OKECHUKWU (CHIEF PRIEST) & HON PRINCESS MIRIAM ONUOHA ON THE JUST CONCLUDED APC HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PRIMARIES IN IMO STATE

The Office of the Chief Press Secretary to the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Imo State, wishes to clarify issues surrounding the withdrawal of Dr. Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Chief Priest, and Hon. Princess Onuoha from the just concluded House of Representatives Primaries of our great Party.

With utmost respect to both distinguished aspirants, it is important to state that their decisions to withdraw from the race were entirely voluntary and made a day before the primaries.

A release by Chinomso Ukwuoma JP, Chief Press Secretary to the State Chairman, APC Imo State, says Dr. Pascal Okechukwu (Chief Priest), of Orlu/Orsu/Oru-East Federal Constituency, in a show of maturity, loyalty and respect for party leadership, chose to step down a day before the primaries, to allow his senior complete a second term of eight years in office.

In the same vein, Hon. Princess Miriam Onuoha, of Isiala Mbano/Okigwe/Onuimo (Okigwe North) Federal Constituency, also withdrew from the contest and openly demonstrated her support for Hon. Uche Agasu (APC flag bearer for House of Representatives election) by accompanying him around to meet delegates and stakeholders, presenting him as her preferred choice ahead of the primaries.

The APC in Imo State appreciates the spirit of sportsmanship, unity and sacrifice exhibited by both leaders in the overall interest of the Party.

We therefore urge the public to disregard false narratives and remain assured that the primaries were peaceful, transparent and conducted in line with the democratic principles of our Party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).
